How Long Should I Wait Before Calling a Lawyer

On Behalf of Naftulin & Shick | Feb 10, 2020 | General Information

lawyer calls

Delay in contacting an attorney after you or a loved one can cause problems. The individual causing the collision normally will immediately contact their insurance company. The insurance company then immediately begins an investigation. They contact witnesses, get statements, and collect other evidence. If you wait to contact a lawyer, it may compromise your attorney’s ability to conduct an investigation and gather the evidence necessary to prove your case.

Each state has a different rule regarding the time an injured party is allowed to file a lawsuit. This is called the “Statute of Limitations”. Failure to file a lawsuit within this time period will result in your case being dismissed from court. Because of these and other time requirements, it is critical that you contact an attorney as soon as possible to protect your rights.

If you, a friend, or a family member has been injured because of someone else’s negligence or carelessness, you should immediately call a lawyer for advice. Consultations with Naftulin and Shick, P.C. are free. You can reach us at 215-348-5455 or send us an e-mail at [email protected]. Don’t wait to call. The defendant’s insurance company is not waiting to conduct their investigation.
