See the results of our latest case in Hatfield…

Our 16 year old client was a passenger in a car travelling south on Route 611. The driver failed to see a vehicle stopped to turn left into a mini-mart/gas station, and struck that vehicle in the rear.

Following the impact, our Client exited the car and walked to the shoulder of the roadway toward a grassy area to wait for help to arrive. Another car was also southbound on Route 611, some distance behind the car crash scene. The driver failed to observe the situation on Route 611. When he recognized that there were vehicles in the roadway, he swerved to the right, traveling at a minimum of 55 mph when he began to skid, he ran onto the shoulder and then the grassy area, striking our 16 year old Client at a minimum speed of 47 mph.

Our Client was struck and thrown approximately 20 feet landing on her side and then rolling onto her back. She told emergency personnel that she blacked out but remembered the incident. She was in serious distress. Her leg injuries were evaluated at the scene and she was given oxygen and morphine for pain relief. She was transported as a trauma victim to the hospital. Both of her legs were severely broken. She remained in the trauma unit for weeks and underwent a number of orthopedic surgeries. She was eventually transferred to Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Hospital in Allentown, Lehigh County Pennsylvania.

Our Client’s parents hired the law firm of Naftulin and Shick, P.C. to help their daughter seek compensation for her very serious injuries. We made sure her medical bills were paid and she was able to receive the care and rehabilitation that she needed.

The insurance coverage for the car in which our Client was a passenger at the time of the first collision and the insurance coverage for the car that struck her as a pedestrian was not adequate to compensate our Client for her permanent personal injuries. Our law firm also presented claims to her parents’ underinsured motorist insurance company. All available sources of recovery were exhausted to obtain compensation for this very injured Client.

Hatfield is a borough in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. Folklore suggests that the township was named for Welsh immigrant John Hatfield, but it is more likely named after a village in Hertfordshire, England. In 1953 M.H. Zeigler & Sons built a cider mill on North Broad Street and today you can still get their fabulous apple products on that same street.
